Moh and Yulanda

M&Y FarisFounding 50 members, DanceHouse subscribers, and all-’round generous and devoted patrons of the arts Moh and Yulanda Faris are the subject of Canadian film director Lynne Stopkewich’s (Kissed) short for the National Film Board, entitled When You Give of Yourself. As Yulanda says, if we all danced more, we would be happier people.

The couple is also this year’s recipients of the Ramon John Hnatyshyn Award for Voluntarism in the Performing Arts, awarded as part of the Governor General’s Awards.

Moh and Yulanda have been an active force in the Vancouver arts community for close to 40 years. They have liberally donated their time and financial support (often anonymously) to opera, dance, the visual arts, and literature, with a particular focus on young people, arts education, professional training opportunities, and legacy giving.

Alas, we can’t embed it here, but this lovely film is well worth watching over at the NFB.
