Friday Round Up

Happy weekend!

Before we make suggestions for great dance to see in the coming week, we’d like to remind you to pick up your copy of The Georgia Straight this week for the fall arts preview. Sankai Juku’s Tobari is recommended as a must-see, as is Doug Elkins’ Fraulein Maria, although February is not strictly fall.

The big noise this weekend is The Dali Universe, Vancouver City Dance Theatre’s first production based on the artwork of surrealist Salvador Dali. Runs September 16-18.

On Sunday, New Works presents urban dance troupe Over the Influence for two shows (2 & 4pm) at the Roundhouse. The 2pm performance is pay-what-you-can, so if you’re looking to entertain your surly teens with some “So You Think You Can Dance” moves, this is the place.
