A Good Year for The Sound of Music

The Guardian reports that the cast of the iconic film The Sound of Music will be reuniting on Oprah’s October 29th show. Despite Christopher Plummer’s famous disdain for the publicity that surrounds the 1965 musical, he’s reportedly in for the reunion, as are Julie Andrews, the fictional von Trapp family, and some of the real von Trapp family, who will sing!

Alas, Dame Julie has had vocal cord surgery and will not sing, but here is a reminder of the glorious past, with chickens.

As well, the film is set for Blu-Ray release later this year.

But what does all this mean for DanceHouse, you may ask? DanceHouse presents Doug Elkins and Friends’ Fraulein Maria, February 3, 4 & 5 at the Playhouse, as our contribution to the Sound of Music frenzy that appears to be happening.

Below is a video created by the arts bloggers of Indy Week that will give you a taste of what’s to come. It is going to be “about as much visceral pleasure as it’s possible to have in a theatre,” (New York Times), so don’t miss it!
