The Friday Round Up

Such an exciting week for dance!

I would be remiss if I didn’t point out that, at this time next week, Wen Wei Dance and Beijing Modern Dance Co. take to the Playhouse stage for two nights only! Got your tickets yet?

Other than that–VIDF! So many free things, you have no excuse for not attending. Ticketed show-wise, looking forward to Germany’s Yvonne Pouget’s butoh-flavoured performance at the Roundhouse March 4 & 5.

Also festive: The Jondo Flamenco Festival, at Centennial theatre in North Vancouver Saturday and Sunday. More info at flamenco.ca.

Mon/Tues at the Dance Centre, MOVE: the company presents the world premiere of a new work by National Ballet of Canada choreographer Matjash Mrozewski, alongside collaborations with two pre-professional youth groups. Young ‘uns–gotta love them. Tickets here.

Wednesday sees the opening of the Coastal First Nations Dance Festival at UBC’s Museum of Anthropology. With performances by the Dancers of Damelahamid, among many others. More information at www.damelahamid.ca/
