The Friday Round Up

In Seattle, there is a trio of stores all in a row called Fancy, Schmancy, and Pants. I love that.  I thought of that because it’s time to put on your fancy schmancy dancy pants and go see some dance.

Are you funky? I knew you were. In that case, you may want to check out Project Soul Productions and the semi-professional hip-hop group SOULdiers Company in a performance that focuses on locking and popping. Features the Groovy Gs, Ndidi Cascade, and Project Soul. More information at projectsoulcompany@gmail.com, tonight, Saturday and Sunday at the Norman Rothstein Theatre.

Do you like things that are free? Would you like to learn more about Aboriginal culture and dance? Learn traditional Gitksan and Cree dances as members of the First Nations dance collective, Dancers of Damelahamid, share their stories and songs at 11am and 1pm on Saturday at ArtStarts in Schools, 808 Richards St. More information at artstarts.com/

Two different dance shows combine jazz, hip-hop, and stage styles as Vancouver Tap Dance performas at North Van’s Centennial Theatre on Sunday. Features VTDS faculty members, a roster of dancers, and guest artist Terry Brock. More information at vantapdance.com/

Centro Flamenco presents El Rocio Flamenco on Saturday at the Vancouver Playhouse. Twenty flamenco dances with live music and cante. More information and online tickets at centroflamenco.com
