The Friday Round Up

Onward to this week’s dance highlights: Tonight thru Sunday some of the young talent at SFU’s Contemporary Arts Dance Program presents an exciting program of five premieres that investigate the human condition from a variety of personal and universal perspectives.  Choreography by  Tara Cheyenne Friedenberg, Paras Terezakis and Tiffany Tregarthen, as well as faculty members Rob Kitsos and Marla Eist. At the Fei and Milton Wong Experimental Theatre, 149 West Hastings Street, Vancouver Tix or at the door cash only.

Tonight and tomorrow night EDAM’s Artistic Director Peter Bingham, American guest artists Chris Aiken and Ray Chung, Vancouver cellist Peggy Lee and lighting designer James Proudfoot weave together an evening of improvised dance and music in Body Narratives. At the EDAM Studio Theatre at the Western Front, 303 E. 8th Ave Vancouver Tix $15 in advance, $20 at the door, cash or cheque only

April 12 LINK Showcase: Connecting Communities Through Dance.  LINK is an annual performance and celebration of community dance in Vancouver. Resident dance groups from various community centers come together to present an array of community dance. Compelling new dances created by: Vanessa Goodman & Krystal Psota | StARTdance, Kathryn Ricketts | Roundhouse Community Dancers, Jacci Collins | Roundhouse Seniors’ Dance, Kim Tuson | Continum Dance Company, and Julie Lebel | Creekside Community Dancers and Foolish Operations Ensemble.   1. Just letting you know that I check this blog every Friday for dance events that sometimes don’t show up in “entertainment” searches. It is much appreciated!
