The Friday Round Up

Spring has sprung, the sun is shining, and what better to complete the picture than a full week of dance to choose from! Hope you had a lovely holiday Friday.

 April 11, 13, 14, 18, 20 and 21 come out to see Shifting States and experience the range of contemporary dance created in this city — the work of 5 choreographers/artistic directors, all on one program. Justine A. Chambers, James Gnam of the plastic orchid factory, David Raymond and Tiffany Tregarthen of Out Innerspace and Peter Bingham, EDAM Dance.  At the EDAM Studio Theatre.  8pm Tix $15 advance/ $20 at the door ,cash or cheque only

April 20 – 22 Royal Winnipeg Ballet presents Svengali: A new ballet by Mark Godden with film projections by Guy Maddin. Set in a decadent world reminiscent of mid-century Weimar, the ballet presents an explosive new look at the original master of mind control. A gripping storyline fuels this complex psychological drama, unfolding with powerful athleticism and world-class artistry. Svengali is performed to a mesmerizing score featuring Rachmaninov, Liszt, Richard Strauss, Philip Glass, and the Amsterdam Klezmer Band.
