Today at 4pm Kinesis Dance somatheatro presents a free open-studio performance by dance artist Takako Matsuda, as part of its cultural-exchange series.  Modern Ballet Matsuda’s artistic director has a unique blend of Japanese traditional/classical methods with western contemporary techniques that put her abilities in much demand as teacher, dancer and choreographer. Opening Thursday November 14, and Friday 15Compaigni V’ni Dansi presents Cookin’ It Up Metis, an introduction to Metis history through dance and storytelling by Artistic Director Yvonne Chartrand. The  young dancers will perform various forms of dance from different cultures which, blended together, create Metis dance.  Scotia Bank Dance Centre, 7:30 pm. Tix

Friday November 16 Coastal City Ballet takes to the stage with an evening of classics and new works. The vibrant, young company will perform Swan Lake Act 2, the exciting flames of Paris pas de deux, a piece by Brazilian choreographer, Gisele Bellot and world premieres by Canadian dancer and choreographer Heather Laura Gray and Rebecca Gilhooley of So You Think You Can Dance Netherlands.
