The Friday Round Up

Happy New Year!  Well that was a good little break now wasn’t it? May 2013 bring you many long hours of dance watching pleasure!

henry-daniel-imageThis coming Friday and Saturday January 11 and 12, SFU Woodwards and Full Performing Bodies present Here be dragons / Non plus ultra, a new work by choreographer Henry Daniel with Musical Director/Composer Owen Underhill and featuring dancers, musicians, and media artists from Barcelona, Spain, and Vancouver. Using the historic events of 1492 as a reference point it, the dancers offer their personal narratives to question and provoke issues of identity, looking at what happens when the human urge to adventure takes hold, when the curiosity and excitement of discovery turns to colonization, and/or occupation of territory; the physical, psychological, and emotional territory of self and other. Fei & Milton Wong Experimental Theatre, Goldcorp Centre for the Arts, SFU Woodwards.
