Cannot believe that tomorrow is June 1st!  We will soon be on a summer hiatus, but until then there is still much to see!

All week until June 8 The Vancouver International Bhangra Celebration presents the annual City of Bhangra Festival at Various venues around Surrey and Vancouver. The HSBC City of Bhangra Festival is set to be one of the biggest must-see spring events in Metro Vancouver. This year’s festival line-up includes various independent events, hundreds of performers, and international artists from the UK, US and India. The festival will include free outdoor concerts and dance performances, workshops, conferences, and percussion events. The HSBC City of Bhangra Festival is a feast for the senses and appealing to diverse audiences from all over the community.

Saturday and Sunday Karen Flamenco presents Sleeping Beauty. Encounter the enchantment of sleep, a beautiful princess and an evil witch “Maleficent” in Karen Flamenco’s adaptation of this classic fairytale. Vancouver Playhouse 7pm, Saturday matinee 4pm. For tix call 604-721-4869.

June 7 and 8 It’s time to celebrate! Art for Impact‘s 10th production, “Roots of Change” is all about art for social change. Come and join us for two evenings of music, dance, theatre and live visual art by a selection of outstanding artists from Vancouver and beyond, all exploring what art for social change means to them. All proceeds from the event will go towards Art for Impact’s ” !mpact Project”- our newest initiative-which includes arts programming for underprivileged youth, a mentorship program, art for social change workshops/forums, and more. Interplay ProjectAlso June 7 and 8 (you can do one on Friday and the other on Saturday!) The Interplay Project in which The Contingency Plan and Moberly Arts and Cultural Centre present this interdisciplinary performance lab that invites audiences to engage with experimental new works by established and emerging Vancouver artists. At the Moberly Arts and Cultural Centre (7646 Prince Albert St). Tix $15 purchased at the door.
