Oh sunny days! And Happy International Dance Week!

Ballet BC ends it season tonight and tomorrow with UN/A. This looks to be an amazing finale to the season with three world premieres! Montreal choreographer Gioconda Barbuto returns to create a new full company commission. Gustavo Ramirez Sansano, a rising star in the international dance world and past Artistic Director of the prominent Chicago-based Luna Negra Dance Theater, has chosen Ballet BC to be the first Canadian company he has chosen for his newest choreographic adventure. And finally Spaniard Cayetano Soto , a vibrant new voice in contemporary ballet, has created the  moody and intense Twenty Eight Thousand Waves, set to haunting music by Bryce Dessner and David Lang. The Dance Centre is celebrating with a full day of events including performances by Aeriosa and SOULdiers, and studio showings by Vanessa Goodman and Deanna Peters, among others. The Shadbolt Centre is also celebrating International Dance Day with a series of informal  dance performances by resident companies Continuum and Youth in Motion, Meredith Kalaman, Arash Khakpour, Salome Nieto with special guest Toto Berriel, and Donna Redlick. Shadbolt Centre for the Arts, 6450 Deer Lake Avenue, Burnaby, B.C.
