The Friday Round Up

Another wonderful week of dance. Enjoy!

Only a week away until L-E-V hits town with their incredible work House. L-E-V means “heart” in Hebrew, and if you watch this video you will see there is a lot of heart, and passion, in this piece! Did you know that Gal Behar, one of the co-founders of L-E-V, used to produce raves? Perhaps that is why many critics who have seen this piece say it feels “rave like”. So do you have your tickets yet? If not, you can buy them here – either Friday Nov 14 or Saturday Nov 15. At the Vancouver Playhouse, 8pm.

Have you ever been to a Speaking of Dance, DanceHouse’s series of talks developed to deepen your understanding of dance and augment your “dance speak”?  Well this Tuesday November 11 might be a good time to try it. Apart from it being a holiday so you don’t have to rush over after work, we have local dancer and choreographer Vanessa Goodman from the Contingency Plan speaking about L-E-V, and the role the Israeli companies have played in the development of contemporary dance. And it is FREE! 7pm, World Studio, SFU Woodwards.

This weekend, Friday to Sunday, Co. Erasga presents Undivided Colours/A Symposium. Friday and Saturday include panel discussion with various artists, and Saturday and Sunday performances by Alvin Erasga Tolentino, Peter Chin and William Lau, anongst others. At the ScotiaBank Dance Centre and the Roundhouse Community Centre. See here for more info.

A.U.R.A._001Ballet BC is back in it’s season opener with three works, including A.U.R.A.(Anarchist Unit Related to Art), choreographed by Jacopo Godani and premiered in 2012.
