At last! Tonight and tomorrow night, Marie Chouinard,the Queen of Contemporary Dance as they call her,  is here in Vancouver, compliments of DanceHouse! Check out what Janet Smith, Dance Critic at the Georgia Straight has to say about her and the works Chouinard is bringing here to Vancouver. And have a taste of her work here. It is not too late to get tickets! And for inspiration, here is a taste! At the Vancouver Playhouse, 8pm.

If going to Chouinard this weekend is not enough dance for you, today at 4pm check out a studio showing of work developed during the Choreographic Workshop with Gabi Beier (Berlin). Featuring works by emerging dance artists Julianne Chapple and Michael Kong (Vancouver), Dyana Sonik-Henderson and Stacey Horton with Treena Stubel and Brandy Baybutt (Victoria), developed during a two-week workshop with  renowned dance dramaturge Gabi Beier of Berlin’s ada studio. At the Scotia Bank Dance Centre, 4pm. FREE!

The Chutzpah Festival continues this week with Idan Sharabi & Dancers (Israel/Holland) with Vanessa Goodman tonight and tomorrow night, and BODYTRAFFIC coming up next week. Details here.body

On Sunday March 1st Ballet Kelowna hits town with excerpts from Forward: A Mixed Repertory Programme . At Performance Works, 1218 Cartwright Street, Granville Island. Tix

March 3-8  the 2015 Coastal First Nations Dance Festival produced by the Dancers of Damelahamid in partnership with the UBC Museum of Anthropology. These performances will showcase the diverse and rich cultural traditions practiced by a selection of some of the best artists from coastal British Columbia, the Yukon as well as national and international guest artists. Throughout the festival the Great Hall will be transformed into a celebration of Indigenous cultures and dance traditions. For more details and tickets
