A little quieter this week – in preparation for the Vancouver International Dance Festival coming up soon!

Until March 8 Dancers of Damelahamid and the Museum of Anthropology join forces to present the Coastal First Nations Dance Festival. These performances will showcase the diverse and rich cultural traditions practiced by a selection of some of the best artists from coastal British Columbia, the Yukon as well as national and international guest artists. Throughout the festival the Great Hall will be transformed into a celebration of Indigenous cultures and dance traditions. Signature Evening Performance. Here for more info.

manuel roqueIt is that time of the year, time for the Vancouver International Dance Festival. And what a line up, from local artists Out Innerspace and the 605 Collective, to Tokyo based Butoh company Dairakudakan and Montreal’s Manuel Roque. The Festival goes from March 8 to 28 around Vancouver. See here for full info.

Now is this cool or what? Dance Collection Danse is about to launch a Google map of sites and buildings linked to Vancouver’s dance history. You just click on a pin and a paragraph pops up to tell you how the site is connected to Vancouver’s dance history. There is a slide show of historic images, and even links to further reading if you want to know more! Niiice! Check it out here
