The Friday Round Up

We’re baaack!  You thought we were gone forever – not a chance! It is going to be a wonderful dance season, so stay tuned.

It is a little too early to talk in detail about the first DanceHouse show of the season, Hofesh Shechter November 13 and 14, but since we have been gone so long, here’s a taste to wet your appetite.

September 25 and 26 Donna Redlick Dance, in partnership with the Roundhouse Community Centre, present Body as Site. Perceive and reimagine the body in relation to built space as dance and architecture weave together to create a dynamic installation event. Measuring tools, in relation to the body, unfold in space and time becoming artifacts of the lived experience. The audience can move and change levels as installations begin to frame and surround the dancers’ bodies.  Arrive or depart at anytime during the two hour event. Experience dance in a gallery-like space at the Roundhouse Exhibition Hall. Tickets $18/ $13 for students and seniors. www.brownpapertickets.com or at the door half hour prior to event (cash only).

Continuing until September 27 is the Vancouver International Flamenco Festival. If you know little about flamenco this is the time to find out more, and if you love flamenco already, you are sure to find something new at the festival. Try a class, or watch a show – for a full listing of events go here.

What a great cast: Joe Laughlin himself, Gioconda Barbuto, Heather Dotto, and Kevin Tookey. Have a taste of the promo video of 4OUR. At the Scotiabank Dance Centre, 8pm Tix
